In the last year alone more than 10 states enacted new laws impacting the debt negotiation industry, several amended their laws, the U.S. House of Representatives again passed its bankruptcy reform legislation and legal drafting committees are attempting to regulate the industry.

Those debt negotiators who are not part of an industry association will not have their individual voices heard in the presentation of a collective message. The effect and effectiveness of the USOBA message on behalf of the industry is only as strong as the members behind the organization.

Every debt negotiation company can receive tremendous value from the USOBA member benefits. As a USOBA member you will, more importantly, be part of the only association to promote and safeguard the debt negotiation industry. You will also receive:
  • State Law Guide
The USOBA State Law Guide is a summary of each of the state laws applicable to the operations of debt negotiators. The guide is not legal advice, but serves as a starting point for your organization's leadership and legal staff to find the law, understand its application to the industry and save thousands of dollars on primary legal research. The guide is updated periodically to reflect changes of the law, updated contact information and new regulatory opinion letters.
  • Member-Only Web Page
All USOBA members are given a personal screen name and password to access the Member-Only section of the USOBA webpage. The Member-Only section features real-time postings of relevant industry news, media coverage, legal analyses and a member driven BLOG for posting your comments and reading those of other members.
  • Legislative and Regulatory Representation
USOBA represents the interests of the debt negotiation industry at all levels of government. It is USOBA's mission to educate legislators and regulators about the importance of debt negotiation and obtain fair treatment in the enactment or amendment of the law.
  • Newsletter
The USBOA newsletter, "The Bottom Line", is sent to members electronically every other month. "The Bottom Line" features articles and information of importance to the debt negotiators about legislation, regulations, legal news and other industry changes.
  • Discounts to Industry Conferences
As a USOBA member, you will receive significant discounts to many important industry conferences. USOBA will hold a winter and summer conference each year in locations ideal for travel and meetings.
